What are Trigger Points?

A Trigger Point is an area of the body, hyper-sensitive to touch, which can also cause pain elsewhere in the body, restricts range of motion and prohibits normal function.

What does Trigger Point Therapy treat?

Our therapy treats Latent Trigger Points you may not know you have and active Trigger Points that hurt now.  Both of these occur in tense muscles that are unable to relax.

Are your therapists certified?

Yes, we are fully-certified.  Certification is provided by the Certification Board for Myofascial and Trigger Point Therapists (CBMTPT).  They require a standard knowledge requisite for certification.

Why should I use Trigger Point Therapy?

Trigger Point therapy treats the muscles and connective tissue that causes pain.  Directly treating the underlying cause is more effective than treating the pain with medication or surgery.

What types of disorders can you help with?

We are conservative healers. We are hesitant to make claims that our treatment is a superior alternative to well established treatments for a definite diagnosis from your physician. We would never directly countermand your physicians advice. However, we have had a success with patients that had been diagnosed with a wide variety of chronic problems ranging literally from head to toe:

  • Headaches and TMJ
  • Shoulder problems such as frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
  • Elbow problems such  as Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow
  • Hand pain, numbness or tingling
  • Back pain
  • Pain in the gluteal (butt), hip and thigh area, such as Pirfiormis Syndrome or IT Band Syndrome
  • Knee problems such as Patello-Femoral Syndrome or Chrondo-malacia
  • Foot and lower leg problems such as Plantar Fasciitis and hammer/claw toes
  • Complex, widespread or systemic issues such as Fibromyalgia or Rheumatoid Arthritis

Do you accept insurance?

Regrettably, no we do not accept most insurance plans at this time.

How do your packages work?

Our per session rates are dramatically lower if you purchase a package of 3, 5 or 10 sessions and pay for them in advance. The promotional value of the package is good for one year but the remaining cash value never expires. For instance, let say you purchased a five session package and only used 4 sessions during the first year. You would still have a credit towards a single discounted session going forward, but would need to pay the difference between the discounted rate and the normal single session rate after that. Packages can also be shared with family members.

What are the limits of your scope of practice?

We cannot prescribe drugs, over the counter medications or supplements. We do not perform any type invasive of medical procedure including but not limited to cutting, piercing, injecting, dry needling or acupuncture. The scope of practice as defined by the State of Illinois is as follows:

“A system of structured palpation or movement of the soft tissue of the body. The system may include, but is not limited to, techniques such as effleurage or stroking and gliding, petrissage or kneading, tapotement or percussion, friction, vibration, compression, and stretching activities as they pertain to massage therapy. These techniques may be applied by a licensed massage therapist with or without aid of lubricants, salt, or herbal preparations, hydromassage, thermal massage, or a massage device that mimics or enhances the actions possible by human hands.”
